What it can and can’t do
It’s a real number for calls, texts and voicemail. It can’t call emergency services, and it isn’t end-to-end encrypted, because ordinary calls and texts travel over carrier networks. For emergencies, use your phone’s own dialler.

- Is it a real phone number?
- Yes. Anyone can call or text it the ordinary way, from any phone.
- Do I need a second SIM or another phone?
- No. The number lives in the app on the iPhone you already have, separate from the number on your SIM.
- How does pricing work?
- Every plan includes a number and bonus credits each month. Calls and texts use credits, the ones you receive as well as the ones you make; one credit is one outgoing minute or message to the US and Canada. Prices are shown in the app, in your currency, before you pay.
- Can I call emergency services?
- No. Use your phone’s own dialler on your normal mobile service for emergencies.
