Second Phone Number

Text messages from Second Phone Number lines

Second Phone Number is an iOS app run by Hypewizz. It gives each user a second phone number of their own, so they can call and text without giving out their personal one. If you received a text from one of these numbers, this page explains where it came from and how to stop it.

Who sends them

A person. Every message is written in the app by the user the number belongs to, and goes to someone that user chose to contact. Hypewizz sends no messages of its own, sends no marketing, and keeps no subscriber list.

The rules every sender accepts

Before a user can send their first text, the app shows these rules and sends nothing until the user taps I agree. The acceptance is recorded with its date on our server.

Before your first text

  • Text only people who gave you their number or asked you to contact them.
  • Your first text to a new US number ends with “Sent with Second Phone Number. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.”
  • Anyone you text can reply STOP to stop your messages, or HELP for help.
  • Message frequency depends on your conversations. Msg & data rates may apply.
  • Bulk, automated or unsolicited messages are not allowed. Accounts that send them are closed.

By tapping I agree, you accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

How a conversation starts

You agree to receive texts from a user by doing one of two things:

  1. You text them first. Users put their second number on their own marketplace listings, rental ads, dating profiles, websites and business cards, with a line such as “Text me at (415) 555-0188”. When you text that number, the user replies to you from it.
  2. You give them your number. You hand your number to a user, or publish it on an ad or listing of your own, and ask to be contacted. Their first text to you then ends with:Sent with Second Phone Number. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

The app’s Terms forbid bulk, automated or unsolicited messages, and accounts that send them are suspended or closed.

In the app

Here someone asked a user, by phone, to send them the details of a rental. The user's first text ends with the line above; the reply comes back only to that user.
